About Hosting
Graduating medical students are often applying and interviewing at over 20 different residency programs and thus traveling across the country in pursuit of a residency position. This can come at a high cost both financially and personally. The Sinai Host Program is designed to connect fourth-year medical students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai with alumni from across the country. This program allows alumni to make meaningful connections with the next generation of Icahn students while providing the students with a “home base” for a night or two during their residency interview – typically between the months of October through January.
As an alumni host, you can offer the benefit of your own experiences, providing an insider’s view of the medical profession, your specialty, and the area in which you live or practice. In turn, you have an opportunity to learn firsthand from a student about everything new at ISMMS.
The process for becoming a Sinai Host is the same as becoming an alumni advisor. The enhancement offered by the Sinai Host program is the overnight stay by the student. It is our hope that the Sinai Host program will open possibilities to many of our students who are limited by the financial cost burdens the residency interview process incurs.
